By Adamu Ali Tongo
The member representating Dukku/Nafada federal Constituency, Hon Abdullahi El-Rasheed (Bala Kelly) has resigned his membership of people s democracy party PDP.
In a letter he personally signed on Saturday, Bala Kelly said it has become imperative to critically examine recent political developments across the country particularly the persistent internal crisis; factionalisation and leadership tussles within the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
He said "the outcome of these consultations overwhelmingly indicated the need to resign from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and align with the All Progressives Congress (APC). This collective decision is informed by the desire to align with the Federal and State Governments in order to enhance effective governance and bring the dividends of democracy closer to the people".
Bala Kelly said he embarked on an extensive consultation with party stakeholders; political aides; ward coordinators across the twenty-one (21) wards of Dukku and Nafada Local Government Areas as well as family; friends and supporters especially as the 2027 general elections approach.
"Accordingly, I have formally communicated my resignation to the Chairman, Peoples Democratic Party, Waziri North ward and encourage my political associates and supporters to join me as we begin a new chapter in our political journey which firmly focused on the progress and welfare of the good people of Dukku/Nafada Federal Constituency".
The member also apologize to anyone who may feel affected, specifically my comments during my Consultation. It is not my character to abuse, disrespect, or to condemn any personality. This decision is guided solely by my commitment to the best interests and overall development of our constituency.
